Hudson Taylor Live Stream

16/06/2014 by Tom Roden

One of our favourite duos of recent times, Hudson Taylor, will be performing via live stream at 5:30pm (BST) today (June 16). The stream is to celebrate the release of their ‘Battles II’ EP, which dropped yesterday along with the single release of title track ‘Battles’. The title track was previously released on the band’s original ‘Battles’ EP, which we reviewed last year (it’s here, because we know you’re interested). You can catch the stream on the band’s Google +, […]

DISARONNO Announce UK DISARONNO Terrace Gigs

04/06/2014 by Tom Roden

It’s the perfect gig environment – a mix of cocktails, music and a venue atmosphere that is a nice mix of classy and informal. Famous Italian liqueur brand DISARONNO last night announced a series of rooftop gigs taking place in the UK with a range of new talent, and we’re very excited about this! The one-off series of rooftop parties, collectively know as DISARONNO Terrace, kick off on June 25 at Platform in East London with a special performance from […]

Lymelight Festival 2014: Day Three Report

06/05/2014 by Tom Roden

The final day of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Lymelight Festival 2014 brought with it a mixed bag of performances. While there was less musical variety on display than there was yesterday, every act did their best to provide entertainment for the audience. And most were successful at this. Brains For Breakfast was a fantastic opening act, with his catchy brand of acousto-pop gathering a crowd early on and being well-received – particularly closing track and latest single ‘Sway’. A good act, but one […]

Lymelight Festival 2014: Day Two Report

05/05/2014 by Tom Roden

After ending on a high note last night, Lymelight Festival plodded to a start with the disappointing folk sounds of Rain. Things picked up slightly with Holly Pender, whose gentle acoustic sound gathered the first audience of the day and made up for the less-than-satisfying start to the day. Covers band Baxter got the crowd ready for the first band of the day, The BlueYellows, whose breezy pop songs were characterised by simple piano sections and wah-heavy guitar. They went down well, and signalled […]

Lymelight Festival 2014: Day One Report

03/05/2014 by Tom Roden

The first day of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Lymelight Festival 2014 has been a great day for new music, and a fantastic way to promote the talent of the local area. A few technical issues plagued opening act The Rising, but after a few delays the set began superbly. The band produce a very likeable folk-rock sound that fans of Mumford & Sons will just love. The band were promptly followed by Ben Owen, an artist who we’ve written about before. Owen kicked […]

The Whiskey Syndicate Shuffle

11/10/2013 by Tom Roden

The Whiskey Syndicate announced this morning that they have parted ways with long-term guitarist Mike Davies. The band announced on their Facebook page this morning that Mike’s departure was a “completely amicable split”, and that the reason was that Mike has “fallen out of love with making music”. But the band were quick to make things better by stating that they will now be joined by Matt Smith, a long time friend of the band and “a very talented guitarist”. […]

04/10/2013 by Tom Roden

Street folk outfit Lester Clayton have announced today that their October tour will be canceled. The tour, which included dates at Edinburgh and Norwich (and more which had yet to be announced), has been postponed until next year for reasons which the band state are “out of [their] control“. While this is sad news, fans can take solace in the fact that the outfit will be using the time to continue working on new material. The announcement on the band’s […]
