The Whiskey Syndicate Shuffle

11/10/2013 by Tom Roden

The Whiskey Syndicate announced this morning that they have parted ways with long-term guitarist Mike Davies. The band announced on their Facebook page this morning that Mike’s departure was a “completely amicable split”, and that the reason was that Mike has “fallen out of love with making music”. But the band were quick to make things better by stating that they will now be joined by Matt Smith, a long time friend of the band and “a very talented guitarist”. […]

03/02/2013 by Tom Roden

This week I’m back with the usual range of styles. From piano-driven indie rock to melodic metal, there is a lot on offer this week that definitely deserves checking out. I won’t be giving a big introduction this week, as by now I’m sure you all know what to expect. Without further procrastination, here are this week’s picks of the week. 1. Slip Away – Missing Andy Genre: Indie; Easy-Listening Rock ‘Slip Away’ is the final track from the band’s […]

Picks Of The Week 9

23/12/2012 by Tom Roden

This week we’ve got the best of the tracks I’ve heard during my reviewing over the past week. It’s a good range of stuff so, without further ado, here is the final picks of the week before Christmas! 1. Soul Of Oceans – Emma’s Imagination Genre: Acoustic; Pop ‘Soul Of Oceans‘ is an impressive slide guitar piece that definitely catches your attention and, in particular, makes Emma’s Imagination stand out from many of her peers. The song is by far […]

The Whiskey Syndicate – ‘Stick Or Twisted’ EP Review

17/12/2012 by Tom Roden

Back-to-basics rock ‘n’ roll with face-melting guitar solos: The Whiskey Syndicate‘s 2011 EP is a powerful tour de force. From the moment the record begins, you are subjected to the muscular instrumentation and in-your-face attitude that the band specialise in. And unlike many bands that approach music in this manner, they remain consistent: the feeling of pure excitement doesn’t falter for a second. The main reason for that maintained feeling of excitement is the band’s musical ability and compatibility. The […]

The Whiskey Syndicate – ‘Nothing To Hide’ Single Review

15/12/2012 by Tom Roden

Rock ‘n’ rollers The Whiskey Syndicate have today released the latest single ‘Nothing To Hide’. The track is the latest single from their debut album ‘Right Side of Crazy‘ and features everything we’ve come to expect from The Whiskey Syndicate. With wailing guitars, driving drums, building instrumentation and a scorching guitar solo, the track is by far one of the finest that the band have produced to date. The track opens with some excellent guitar work. The seemingly acoustic rhythm […]

Introducing…The Whiskey Syndicate

23/11/2012 by Tom Roden

With a powerful rhythm section and soaring vocals and lead guitar, few new bands do traditional-sounding rock and roll better than The Whiskey Syndicate. They’ve recently released their debut album ‘Right Side Of Crazy’ on In At The Eye Records and have gained a lot of attention from a number of sources, notably former Kerrang! radio DJ Emma Scott. They have not toured with or been championed by major artists, so you may wonder why they deserve this recognition. Over […]

The Whiskey Syndicate – ‘Right Side Of Crazy’ Album Review

30/10/2012 by Tom Roden

Those familiar with The Whiskey Syndicate will find debut album ‘Right Side of Crazy‘ to be everything they’ve come to love about the band, while those new to the band will be instantly hooked on the band’s classic rock sound. From the moment the album kicks in with ‘Livin’ Fast‘, the band waste no time in showing why they’re proving to be one of the biggest acts signed to In At The Eye Records: the lyrics are vintage rock and […]
