Video: The Bots – ‘Blinded’

13/03/2015 by Tom Roden

As if The Bots and their music weren’t badass enough, their latest music video was directed by Norman Reedus. That’s right, it was directed by The Walking Dead’s Daryl Fucking Dixon. ‘Blinded’ has a mid-tempo stomp to it, and a seductive guitar hook that is reminiscent slightly of Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know?’. But it’s still definitely a Bots track, and the intensely rock guitar solo confirms that. The video itself is confusing. It has shots which range from […]

Video: The Bots – ‘All I Really Want’

22/10/2014 by Tom Roden

Sometimes a music video is just perfect, and nothing can ever be done to improve. Take a look at Blur’s video for ‘Coffee & TV’; it’s perfect. Likewise, The Bots’ amazing new video for their amazing new track ‘All I Really Want’ is so good it’s unreal. We’ve praised the track before for being great (and did so in the show too), but the video is just as good and is the most internetty video we’ve ever watched. It’s born completely […]

The Bots – ‘All I Really Want’ Review

17/07/2014 by Tom Roden

It’s happening. It’s finally, finally happening. The Bots are set to release their debut album, ‘Pink Palms’, on October 13. Any long term follower of us will know that we’ve been big fans of the band for a long time, so we’re pretty happy with this news! To get us all back in the mood for some post-punk mayhem, the brothers Lei have dropped their first track from the album. ‘All I Really Want’ is a little bit different to anything […]

Video: The Bots – ‘No One Knows’

09/07/2014 by Tom Roden

Post-punk duo The Bots take things a little gentler with ‘No One Knows’, and the artsy video reflects this. Embracing a more folk-rock acoustic sound, this song’s hypnotic shuffle will get right into your head and stay there for days. Personally, I think the sound of this song suits the band well. It’s a sweet departure from their usual and it’s executed perfectly. Combine the song with a nice video slightly reminiscent of Coldplay’s ‘The Scientist’ and you’re onto a […]

Introducing…The Bots

09/11/2012 by Tom Roden

Californian experimental-punk duo The Bots are two of the most unassuming rockstars you’ll ever stumble across. Mikaiah Lei (vocals and guitars, aged 19) and Anaiah Lei (percussion and backing vocals, aged 15) have been bring punk rock back to life over the past seven years and have been earning recognition from a lot of well-respected musicians. And it’s more than deserved. Blur. The Temper Trap. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Refused. These are just a few of the big names that […]

The Bots – Live Review 4/11/12

06/11/2012 by Tom Roden

The Bots are a special thing indeed. A pair of brothers in their teens coming over from the USA and taking Europe by storm by being the embodiment of punk? That is definitely something special. Tonight, The Bots have brought together some great new punk-rock bands to support them as they attempt to show Birmingham exactly why they have earned attention from bands such as Blur and Refused. And they do exceedingly well in doing so. First on the bill […]
