Get set for four minutes of roaring alt-rock action.
If you’ve ever felt alienated and above the hormone-driven mating rituals of adolescence, then Cleopatrick‘s latest single Youth is the moment of release you’ve been waiting for. Over the course of four furious minutes, Cleopatrick laments the mentality of one-night stands and meaningless sex, attacking it with elegant imagery and a healthy dose of attitude.
It’s an interesting offering that mixes rough alt-rock with the refined sound of late-noughties pop-punk, offering up a fresh feeling sound with a familiar air about it.
Discussing the background of the track, Cleopatrick stated that, “by the time I was finishing high school, a profound anger was building deep inside of me. I couldn’t go to the parties because, when I did, I felt overwhelmed with anxiety from the mistreatment and predation that thrived in those environments.
“Youth is me finally letting that anger out, and reaching my conclusion on how wrong it all is. Youth is me confronting them for wasting so much time. Youth is me standing up for the girls that have to put up with that bullshit. And Youth is a message to those guys – I haven’t forgotten the things you’ve done.”
