Latest offering from White Room is a 60s psych-pop throwback.
Even if you weren’t alive during the period, you’ll most likely have some sort of idea of what 60s pop music sounded like. Oddly chirpy and innocently upbeat with shuffling rhythms and psychedelic tones, White Room‘s latest single Twisted Celebration ticks all the boxes of a stereotypically 60s pop throwback – and it’s no bad thing.
According to frontman Jake Smallwood, “What started life as a folk song quickly progressed as we started messing with inspirations from George Martin’s orchestral builds and skippy cross percussion vibes from Pet Sounds”. This sums it up as perfectly well as we could; drop in some mesmerising backing vocal chants and a hypnotic guitar line and its two minutes of nostalgic, psychedelic bliss.
