Two worlds combine on Uppermost’s new single.

Collaborative tracks are always an exciting prospect, bringing together two likeminded creatives who may be very different kinds of musician. It then becomes fascinating to observe how the two acts bounce off one another.

Uppermost‘s new single Step By Step is a good example of this, featuring velvetine vocalwork from Sora. Uppermost’s sound is typically influenced by the likes of Daft Punk, which is very evident on this single; each line feels like a brighter and shinier version of Daft Punk’s last album.

Where it gets interesting is when you add Sora into the mix, who brings new layers of melody and a swaying rhythm to the song. On the surface, it’s not the most unusual combination, but the feelgood lullaby vibe of the track is inimitable.
