New single from Young Rising Sons is an anthem for everyone.
We might still be a year away from the next Olympic and Paralympic events, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t start looking forward to them now. And there is no better way to be filled with optimism and hope for the events than the latest video from US rockers Young Rising Sons, turning everyman anthem Undefeatable into a bout of Paralympic inspiration.
The track is your modern style of indie-rock radio singalong, with an endless refrain of vocal chants and a quiet-loud dynamic that sounds a blend of every contemporary rock-leaning hitmaker from Band of Skulls and You Me At Six to Coldplay and U2. It’s very simple, but even more effective and infectious.
But it’s the video that takes it to the next level. Showing the trials and triumphs of a paralympic athlete, in particular US track and field athlete Lacey Jai Henderson, you can’t help feel more than a little bit inspired. If the track wasn’t rousing enough, watching a young handicapped girl rise to the challenge of first walking and then, ultimately, competing on the grandest of sporting stages certainly is.
