Batts drops new single that blurs ambience and indie.
It’s been a long while since we last covered Batts, which was for her cover of What Is Love over a year ago. Now, the artist is back with a new – and original – track in the form of the expansive For Now.
The inspiration from ambient music is clear throughout the piece, bringing together slightly unconventional sounds to create a bubbling atmosphere of space-consuming glory. While it opens on a lumbering note, the song evolves and – by the midway point – every note is echoing out into infinity while Batts’ trademark silken vocals call out in an almost spiritual manner.
Every sound is crafted to be rousing and inspiring, while treading a fine line between reflective and melancholy. The end result is a song that will be a perfect festival closer that will consume all who hear it.
