Nordic ghost-folk artist drops haunting song + video.
It’s not often that a vocal will be enough to draw a shiver from your spine, but it does happen. And as spine-tingling vocals go, Ida Wenøe‘s are pretty tingleworthy. The Nordic songstress has just dropped her latest single/music video combo in the form of Lyla, a track of transcendental tragedy.
Accompanied by little more than fingerpicked guitar melodies that dance minimalistically in the background, Wenøe’s ethereal voice is the haunting centrepiece of this oddly ominous track. The track feels very audibly rooted in the stereotypically perceived ‘Nordic folk’ style, but few other styles could do justice to the track’s sadness and tragedy. The dimly lit accompanying video also fits into this feeling, though seemingly with a more obvious morbidity.
