Stadium-set rockers reach new peak on Turn the Power On.
It’s a glorious feeling when a band that sets an exceptionally high standard early in their musical careers are then able to surpass it. Rakunk, who killed it on their last single Trillionaire, have returned with a new Strokes-esque single in the form of Turn The Power On.
If the last single by the band was their declaration of preparedness to take on stadium environments, this is them announcing their fearless ownership of those venues. Bouncy rhythms and upbeat synth melodies play uneasily enjoyable partners to the blistering alt-rock guitar tones and the intense vocals, but the track still comes together in a flawlessly executed fashion. It’s a beautiful showcase of everything The Strokes worked hard to achieve with modern electro-rock tones thrown in for good measure and distinction, making for a single of immeasurable power and undeniable brilliance.
