Beautifully crafted, smooth and sexy: Kate Miller is striding into adulthood and independence with new single, ‘Collar Up’.
Creating an enormous sultry atmosphere from the start, this is an incredible introductory song to listen to should you not have listened to Miller before – you’ll be hooked from the very first bass flick. Gathering a nice balance between meaning, catchy repetition and general quirkiness, her vocals are just the tip of the musical iceberg.
The dark tones to the track really bring a focus to the clearly talented vocal abilities of Miller, with the whole production managing to worm its way firmly into your head to have “putting my collar up” going round and round in your head for quite a while afterwards, an impressive feat considering the track itself isn’t that upbeat.
Most definitely more than worth the time it takes to listen to the track, and with debut EP ‘Neophyte’ due out on September 29, things seem incredibly promising for the standard of the remaining tracks on the EP.
8/10
