We’ve spoke about The Sunday Reeds and their brand of hazy grunge before, and in the run up to their ‘Amour Tragique’ EP they’ve brought some more hazy riffs our way with ‘Rock N Roll Fantasy’. It’s the next track to feature off their EP, and it’s set for release on August 1 by digital download. But how does it stack up to ‘Jean-Luc’?
Very well, apparently. The track has been heralded as the highlight of the EP, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a stomping riff that owes itself to the work of punk legends such as The Ramones, burning slowly and expanding into your ears. It’s the sound of a band about to take off. Literally. Those guitars sound like they’re sweeping across a landing strip, ready for flight.
With this track, the band establish themselves a powerful act. The bridge of this track is built for great festival tent singalongs, and would make for an excellent close to a set. It’s one of those songs. Not that we’re complaining, mind. We’re all for music that gets us singing along. And The Sunday Reeds definitely do that with this track.
We’re looking forward to the single’s release. August 1. Mark the date.
