Years & Years are on the form of their life, and in their recently recorded Vevo stripped session they show just why. It turns out when you peel back the layers of produced synths and rhythms, you’re left with a fragile heart of pure melody. This live rendition of ‘Eyes Shut’ demonstrates the amazing piano skills of Olly, as well as how much passionate emotion lies in his vocals. It’s a beautifully touching performance, due in no small part to […]

Since hearing ‘Any Last Words’, I’ve fallen in love with Deliah (formerly Shell Deliah). They’ve got a seductive R&B sound with some beautiful and powerful melodies from Michelle Harris’ vocals, and their acoustic rendition of their track ‘Talk Tonight’ is no different. Except this time there’s some fantastic vocal harmonies thrown in too, showing the extensive talent on offer from the act. It’s an acoustic session recording, so of course the video is predominately performance oriented – mainly because, you […]

We’ve obssessed about Jekyll every time some of their material comes our way, seizing the opportunity to cover what we believe to be a fantastic alt-rock outfit. And to reinforce these beliefs, Jekyll have just won the Where’s Mavis? Battle Of The Bands competition 2014 in Preston. And even better than that, the band have made their competition winning set available – in full – on their Youtube channel! Every second of their intense performance has been captured, and you […]

There was a lot of great new acts at Reading and Leeds this past weekend, but one performance that grabbed my attention is this one from Broken Hands. I’ve caught Broken Hands live before, so I knew vaguely what to expect from the band. And the band don’t disappoint in this performance. While the onstage antics aren’t quite as impressive as they were when they supported Howler this Spring, the vocals are still packed with as much powerful and ferocity as […]

Probably our favourite Hudson Taylor song (after ‘Drop Of Smoke’, of course), the band have been kind enough to unveil a live performance of ‘Chasing Rubies’, live from their recent show at Camden’s Electric Ballroom. It’s a great way to see how the band bring their songs to a live environment, as well as getting to hear how beautiful the vocal harmonies and melodies are outside of recordings. It’s an inspiring performance, which will excite fans old and new.

We usually try to avoid live videos from these feature segments, but for this track it was impossible to leave it. As ‘Whistle For My Love’ isn’t available until August, this video will have to satisfy. And satisfy it does. Recorded in the band’s studio, the song captures a band that know how to change their songs in a live scenario. The video may begin with the band seeming very comparable to 1964-era Beatles (highly controlled and restrained), but as […]
