Impure drops an electro-hop track of pure brilliance.
Every musician understands that the cornerstone of a successful EP is the release of a successful single that can build hype and generate interest. Fortunately for electronic outfit Impure, latest single Gin and Ice does just that.
As cool as its namesake, the track pulsates with an almost glitchy hip hop elegance. The track blurs the line between composed and dishevelled – as many who enjoy too many of the titular drinks may feel – with vocals bouncing and stumbling off erratic industrialised beats. Against this, there is chilled out synth tones that oozes collected coolness.
With a short running time of two minutes, the track makes few efforts to resolve this confusion. Instead, Impure focusses on creating the perfect post-party soundtrack with solid vocal melodies, memorable chorus hooks and blissful instrumentation. Much like the drink, it’s a perfect combination.
