Electronic outfit puts new life into house music.
If you are one of those people who feels that the house genre has got a little bit stale over the past few years, you’re not alone. Most emerging electronic artists to take on the style lately have done just that – they’ve taken on a style, resulting in rather formulaic and derivative sounds.
Cue Speakman Sound, an electronic duo that has just dropped its debut single In Flight, which is as experimental as it is enjoyable (which is a lot). The track takes the core elements of house and switches out all the standard synthesised and digital instrumentation for something that feels a lot more organic and natural. Namely, the duo throw in some sweeping rhythm sections that give a world music vibe, while close friend Sharky adds infectious vocal hooks into the mix.
When you include a children’s choir from a local school, you know that the end result is going to be a unmistakeable breakthrough sound in the house scene. Speakman Sound doesn’t disappoint. In Flight is infectious, unique and hypnotic in equal measure, while also offering a glimpse into the bright future of house music.
