Electronic producer Lucian teams up with Olivera for chilled out new single.

 

There are three core components to a killer electronic track: a strong sub bass line, a vocalist that can offer a higher register voice, and a strong contrast between the two. That’s exactly what we’ve got on Sober Heart, the latest musical offering from Lucian and Olivera.

Little time is wasted in setting the tone for the track. Olivera dives straight in with her melodious vocal dominating the relatively restrained electronic instrumentation. For a track not belonging to the vocalist, this is a little unusual – oftentimes we’ll find that producers hold a sense of ownership over their tracks by going straight in with their own sections. Here, Lucian has gone against the grain to let the most prominent aspect – the vocals – shine through. In fact, the synthwork mostly fizzles in the background and serves simply to fill the void around the vocal. That is until you get to the drop, which brings the instrumentation into the limelight and demonstrates the true power of Lucian’s craft.
