New music video makes the ordinary interesting.
Pop-rockers Clay have just dropped the official music video for their latest track Stay Calm! – a video which feels oddly like it’s either been shot with the wrong lens, or that you’re watching events unfold through a peephole.
Sounding a little bit like a fresh take on The 1975, the song has some wonderful guitar work interwoven with chilling synths and 80s-flashback drums. All of this matched with a bouncy, lively vocal that stands out massively from the usual deluge of “too cool and disinterested” vocal deliveries too many new bands are opting for. Clay sound genuinely engaged with the song and life, which feels effortlessly cool. Throw in a strikingly unusual video style of shooting the standard performance piece and there should be no further doubt that Clay are ones to watch this year.
