Also some feminism too, all with Bratpop delivery.
Our favourite monthly visitor Sophie and the Bom Boms has released new single Creme de la Creme, delivering the usual meaningful dose of upbeat bratpop. Only this time, things are much more anthemic than ever before — and pack the kind of body-love and feminist message that Meghan Trainor would die for.
It’s hard to think of any time the band has been more on message than this. Lyrically it’s flawless, and it’s backed up with some bright and uplifting melodies that rumble on a pretty intense drum section and muted synths. There can be no doubt that this song is designed to be a singalong anthem — a battle cry to anybody who has felt victimised or bullied for their appearance. It’s a message that people are pretty big on sharing, but I’ve yet to hear it put so wonderfully to music as this. The band just keep stepping it up.
