The Christians – ‘Rise’

A rousing call to arms

It’s not every day that we cover a track that is born of political origins. Then again, it’s not every day that one as fantastic as ‘Rise’ comes our way.
The Christians have stated that the track is inspired by the optimism and energy that UK Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn has evoked in people across Britain. With this in mind, there is no overt or even implicit references to this directly. It’s much more seeming that the two happily coincided, with the band channeling the socio-political zeitgeist instead of being inspired by Corbyn.

The outcome is a fantastically uplifting, rousing call for progression through togetherness and unity. It’s a peaceful, even love-tinged, call to arms carried by a soulful groove and blistering guitars that burn with jazz-enfused melodies. It’s tremendously powerful and resonating. A must listen.
