Calling to mind Todd Terje or John Maus in its quirks and curious exploration of electronic music, as well as giving a passing nod to krautrock pioneers Kraftwerk, Das Lebenslied is a beguiling introduction to the work of The Policy.

As you might guess by the comparison to Kraftwerk, the single is an enthralling dive into a vortex of lo-fi synths, steady house drums and robotic vocals. It’s a fascinating art-house project that takes you on a journey that passes language barriers and oozes universal appeal. Whether it’s late night or early morning, it’s a perfect form of escape from reality.

In case you missed the furore surrounding Elderbrook not too long ago when Sleepwalking dropped, the hype is far from over. We’ve just been blessed with a stunning, mesmerising remix from Jamie Jones that completely transforms the song.

Coming in at around seven minutes in duration, the remix isn’t one that wants to be listened to in isolation. It’s an evolving house mix that basically throws itself at summer mixes and club sets around the world, as the sound winds from throwback 90s techno vibes to bass-propelled minimalism. It’s a wild ride through electronic greatness, and it’s one that will make you fall into an inescapable, euphoric trance.

The one of a kind duo Vigiland have just released an EP, coming after the Swedes have gained global success with their dance-floor ready bounce singles such as Another Shot and Shots & Squats. 

Now the pair releases V, a four-track selection of tunes, two of which are vocal-led by Alexander Tidebrink. Be Your Friend opens the EP with dynamic guitar riffs and nostalgic lyrics. Take This Ride captures more of a subtle vibe with its emotive energy and surging builds, whilst Nice To Meet You has a Spanish-esque flair to it with its lilting guitars and pop vocals. The closer, Never Going Home is suitably riotous with those kicking drums and defiant lyrics – a perfect way to round off the set.

On the heels of a 2017 that saw The Feels reach #3 on the Beatport Charts and HRDY release a phenomenal Cruel Summer reinterpretation to the tune of over 200,000 Spotify streams, the two producers have joined forces for a shimmering new single.

Titled Dream On, it’s a nuanced production that mixes The Feels’ dark atmospherics with HRDY’s sun-kissed synths, all topped off by gorgeous vocals from rising star Beatrich.

The Feels, the incognito alias of a Beatport chart-topping producer, has released a string of official remixes via Big Beat and Atlantic alongside solo material that’s received support from Bassnectar, Tommy Trash, and Anna Lunoe.

HRDY, on the other hand, has developed a summery electro-house sound that’s led to support from respected outlets and YouTube channels. As for Beatrich, she’s found major success as a solo and featured artist alike with her most recent single Superstar allotting well over eight million streams to date.

Producer Steerner has delighted us with another stellar release in the form of new single Nowhere. The producer is an industry leader when it comes to progressive house, and maintains many strong friendships and backings from legends such as Avicii, Tiesto and Sub Focus.

Steerner’s production skills shine on Nowhere, which has all the elements to make a radio-friendly house tune. The drifting vocals and smoothly progressive piano chords move with intent towards each pop-infused chorus that we’ve had on repeat since first listen.

Snugs appeared in style towards the end of 2017 by dropping Radio Silence. It was a solid single and definitely a powerful debut release, but it didn’t really give much of an impression that Snugs could be a strong contender in 2018’s EDM arena. While the group was unique in its adorable blobbish mascot, a mascot can only take you so far.

The act is not one to be misinterpreted as being a one-hit wonder, however, and new single Flooded showcases a true flair for pop production and EDM-flirting electronic style. With some smooth vocalwork from Axel Mansoor completing the sensual vibe invoked by the warm synths and fizzing house beat, it’s a worthy followup single and one that makes the outfit a stand-out act in 2018’s electronic scene.

Fresh on the heels of sharing Delicious and I Wanna Know, a pair of tracks tapped by Spotify for official playlists à la Sunshowers, half of the production duo La Felix has departed to start a new project: Fox Blanc. His debut single under the moniker, Make You Feel My Love, is an exhilarating house number that reaches inspired heights driven by colorful keys and a gorgeous vocal sample to match.

Influenced by James Brown to Sigala and Stevie Wonder to Duke Dumont, Fox Blanc’s taste is grounded in a diverse range of musical styles. With a background in piano and guitar, he echoes that range through his genre-bending work.

If you were to flash back to dance music at the turn of the decade, you’d find that synthesised electro-house and wobbling bass ruled the airwaves on the harder end of the spectrum, a sound that has since evolved into what we now know as bass house, future bass and more.

Bringing a vintage flair to the modern era, Ephwurd teamed up with Oneeva for their new single Function, a trippy, bass-driven journey featuring the vocals of Oneeva’s Natalie Kyoko Waters, whose silky and emotive voice evokes memories of trance classics.

Function lets Waters’s song shine through before its wobbling bassline kicks in, layered with serrated electro synths and effervescent melodies. With lyrics that hint at technology malfunction, the track is a plays with the intersection of humanity and artificial intelligence, all the while being a guaranteed dancefloor slayer.

Energy, excitement, emotion and enjoyment; those are the four ingredients for a killer future house track. Expressing them properly and in the right balance is the key to perfecting the craft and none know this quite like Madison Mars, whose new single Magneto ticks all the boxes and hits all the right notes.

Energetic and upbeat, Magneto spreads instant appeal with its dreamy vocals and snappy drums before dipping in to a unique and futuristic drop. The drums drive up excitement and intense energy within the first 50 seconds of runtime, while the vocals serve up a light touch of emotional perfection.

The vocal itself is very simple; it’s just one line, repeated hypnotically in a way that perfectly lets the music speak for itself while setting the tone for the track. It’s just the right amount of voice to inspire an emotional response without detracting from the solid drop and spacious synthwork.

It’s been a while since a Notaker single came our way that, after the first listen, didn’t leave our heads for a good while afterwards. The last time was earlier this year with Shimmer, a single that we dubbed “the most chilled out EDM of 2017”. Naturally, that was without hearing the progressive house delight that is Retribution.

Like Notaker’s previous releases, Retribution has that hauntingly cinematic feel that coaxes the listener through its opening with lilting instrumentals that build to sweeping melodies. It feels a lot darker than previous offerings, though the swell of cinematic synths certainly lifts the mood with a sense of euphoric optimism.
