Honey Moon channel the spirit of the past on latest single.

 

If you’ve ever wanted to take a trip back to a simpler, supposedly sweeter, time, then Honey Moon‘s latest single is probably the time machine you need. (Why Do You Think You’re So) Special is the jangle-pop outfit’s latest offering, and it’s immediately like stepping back into the 12-bar prime of 50s pop-rock.

Lazy guitars lilt their way through the first half of the tune, accompanied by skittish drums, connect-the-dots bass and vocalist Jack Slater Chandler’s primed falsetto, before an outlandish brass band outro takes the song to the stars. It’s the kind of song that wouldn’t be out of place in a “vintage” American-style diner, but is fitted with a modern sheen that makes it feel like a guiltless pleasure.
