Fresh-faced Indie-Alternative scene stirrer
Today we have some breezy-vibed alt-rock from fresh-faced upstarts Fronteers, in the form of latest single ‘It’s Up To Me Now’.
If you didn’t know that the band consisted of 19-year-olds, it wouldn’t take long to guess. In a not entirely bad way, the band sound very youthfully naive and playfully fresh to the world. Some might even find the youthful tones grating after the first or second listen.
But whether the tones throw you off or not, the core melodies of the song are where the band’s charm shines through. ‘It’s Up To Me Now’ has the trademark contemporary indie-alternative sound perfectly nailed, with guitar-led hooks and vocal melodies that trace around the outlines of pop without straying too far from the indie delivery.
The resulting sound is a very recognisable indie one, but not one that gets stale or disappointing the more you hear it. Tried and tested sound though it may be, it’s an enduring sound because it’s well-received when done right. And, unsurprisingly, Fronteers do it right. ‘It’s Up To Me Now’ is only the band’s second single, but it’s one that causes enough of a stir for whatever comes next to really sink in well.
