Shatter Effect are a band that fill a void that you never knew you wanted filling: a blank space between CHVRCHES and Kasabian. Although it’s definitely closer to Kasabian (structurally, it’s very ‘Switchblade Smiles’), it’s got a few nice elements of CHVRCHES thrown in for good measure – as well as a massive chorus.

The video is absolutely fascinating. Cut together with shots of the band passionately performing, there’s a storyline of a supernatural child who causes havoc in a seemingly endless loop. Knowing a little bit about the local area, I can’t help wonder if this Wolverhampton band took inspiration from the black-eyed girl stories that were widespread in local newspapers in time for Halloween last year (total coincidence, I’m sure…). Who knows?
