The video for Ravioli Me Away’s ‘Cat Call’ is every bit as weird as the band’s name might suggest. While the dark and almost-industrial instrumentation grinds a sense of horror into you, the video proceeds to be the most disturbingly mesmerising experience you’ll have all week.
You won’t be able to look away as you see the monochrome video in all it’s glory, and the Mission/Bauhaus-styled gothic-dance dirge of the song keeps you hypnotised. You won’t be able to look away, no matter how much you want to. ‘Cat Call’ is a complete shock to the system and attack of the senses. Even the catchy and simplistic feminism-framing vocals, which (despite sounding like the melody was written by an angsty Oompa Loompa) provide an oasis of normality for the most part, eventually give way to the sound of madness. As I’m sure will anybody who puts the video on repeat for long enough.
And yet, we can’t stop. Finger sandwiches, anyone?
