Dive In – ‘Change In The Weather’

High octane genre bending

Dive In have just dropped their latest single and the title track from their upcoming second EP, ‘Change In The Weather’. It’s the ever familiar pop-swelled indie-rock weirdness, delivered over (roughly) four beautiful minutes.

‘Change In The Weather’ comes only a few months after the release of the band’s first EP, ‘Eighteen’. The band’s eagerness and rush to release something new and exciting is evident in every aspect of the sound. It’s hard to describe the velocity of the guitars, which simultaneously swirl into infinity while galloping forward on pummelling drums, a steadily pulsing bassline and synths with more squeal than David Cameron’s love life.

Vocally it also blurs the boundaries between indie-rock, alternative and pop music in a way that feels unnaturally right. Though that is the most interesting aspect of this track; that it bends genres so easily into a coherent sound that catches your attention, sounding both typically familiar and strikingly different at the same time.

High energy, rich melody and a sound that is unlike anything else you’ll hear in modern pop-rock. ‘Change In The Weather’ is a victorious track bursting with drive and optimism, serving as the perfect follow up to recent plans to become “the best band in the world”.
