Gianna – ‘Baby It’s You’ Review

An upbeat, summery, funk-pop gem

2(1)For fans of: Katy Perry; Carly Rae Jepsen

Gianna’s latest track, ‘Baby It’s You’, is one of those tracks that is so addictive that it could get very frustrating. It’s an upbeat little ear worm that will stay with you for a long time.

It’s a stunning combination of strong vocals, a solid underlying groove and a smooth production that make the track as enjoyable as it is. It creates a sound that feels like a modern pop track retrofitted with an 80’s vibe, making for one hell of an enjoyably upbeat track. And to really add to that upbeat sound, the guitars all jangle out in modern funk-tinged rhythms.

‘Baby It’s You’ rings a lot like a less annoying Carly Rae Jepsen song, one which doesn’t almost drive people to self-immolation. It’s a solid pop song with a nice funk element that is applied just finely enough to not be as overbearing as funk is inevitably about to become in pop music. Breezy enough to catch a nice summertime feel, even if it does drop on just the wrong side of summer. But if over the coming months you need a reminder of what summer feels like, this track nails it perfectly.
