It’s been said over and over and over again, but there’s something about Merseyside. When it comes to music, few places produce as consistent a level of quality and pop-rock immensity as Liverpool. And in Jimmy & The Revolvers, Liverpool might have just presented to us the latest Merseybeat band to break out.
With ‘Whistle For My Love’, Jimmy & The Revolvers have created a window into the city’s colourful musical history. Strong impulsive elements of everyone from The La’s and The Beatles to The Coral flow through the song from start to finish. Catchy beats and melodies, along with a frantically rhythmic musical scrabble a la The Libertines, are something we’ve come to expect from breakout Liverpool musicians – and of course, Jimmy & The Revolvers pull this off well.
This track is a tasty helping of pop-folk-rock, textured with rich harmonies and a beat you won’t be able to get enough of. It’s even got some brass. Everybody loves brass and, for this reason and many more, everybody will love this song.
The single will be released on August 4 as a digital download, and will have a limited run of CD releases. Get ready to get your Scouse on.
